The broader Adelaide Hills region offers many special events throughout the year. Food and Wine festivities, art exhibitions, fairs, agricultural shows, as well as regular farmers markets are all part of living and visiting the Adelaide Hills.
This list of events is by no means exhaustive. There are many more fantastic events that take place in this region. SALA Festival
July 30 to August 15, 2010
Various locations throughout the Hills including Macclesfield. A FREE event that includes visual artists, groups and collectives from across the State. Audiences are invited to come and view a vast array of paintings, sculptures, craft and open studios.
The Blues Brothers
August 7, 2010
The Business and Tourism group of Macclesfield (B.A.T) is putting on this fantastic show featuring a nine-piece band, playing rhythm and blues and a fully choreographed Blues Brothers show presenting Mike "Jake" Foenander and Steve "Elwood" Foenander. Hosted by Radio 5MU personality Barry Martin, the band will feature the best of the Blues Brothers and Sister of Soul music along with the rhythms and sounds of the era. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are $39 per person. Wine, Beer and soft drinks can be purchased at the venue. Bookings can be made by calling Carolyn on 0417 087 891 or 8388 9669. Strathalbyn Antiques and Hobbies Fair
14th and 15th August 2010
The Strathalbyn Antiques and Hobbies Fair attract antique dealers and visitors from all around Australia. Held in various venues around the town, visitors can take advantage of the complimentary shuttle bus service to get around. There will be displays from Spinners and Weavers, Lace makers, Strathalbyn Stitchers, Motor Restorers, Strathalbyn Floral Society and many more. An auction will be held on Saturday at the Lutheran Hall.
Meadows Country Fair

Strathalbyn Duck races

The annual Strathalbyn Duck races is a must see spectacle! This is not your average duck race, with thousands of plastic ducks released into the waters of the Angus River for the race that stops a nation. Featuring two corporate races with ducks decorated by local businesses. With local stallholders, offering a variety of food and drink along with crafts, produce and other items of interest this is a great way to see the Historic Town of Strathalbyn in its full colour.
Macclesfield Strawberry Fete

The Macclesfield Strawberry fete is a great day out for the whole family. It features many stalls selling crafts, antiques, bric a brac and much more as well as games and a visit from Father Christmas for the kids. There is plenty of live entertainment throughout the day and of course, plenty of strawberries!
