The broader Adelaide Hills region offers many special events throughout the year. Food and Wine festivities, art exhibitions, fairs, agricultural shows, as well as regular farmers markets are all part of living and visiting the Adelaide Hills.
This list of events is by no means exhaustive. There are many more fantastic events that take place in this region. More information can be found in a number of publications and websites promoted by the South Australian Tourism Commission. TOUR DOWN UNDER - Macclesfield Family Day
Jan 16th to Jan 23rd 2011.
Various locations throughout the Adelaide Hills, including Macclesfield will paricipate in the celebrations of the Santos Tour Down Under.
On the 21st of January, Macclesfield will host a Family Day for the riders that participate in the Mutual Community Challenge. Macclesfield will be the starting point of the shortest ride (35km) for riders from the community and in support of this event, Macclesfield will host a Family activity day. CRUSH 11 - various locations throughout the Adelaide Hills

The very best of the Adelaide Hills wine and food in locations throughout the
region. Look out for a line-up of Crush events during the festival week. Longview Vineyard, one of the finest cold climate wineries in Adelaide hills will sees four of Australia’s hottest street artists,
(Store, Vans, Fred Rock & Stoops) create massive 2.4m x 1.2m works
over the course of a day. The art will be judged at sunset with the
winning piece being used on the label of the next vintage of Longview’s
Reserve Shiraz. All served up with extraordinary food created on premise
and washed down with a glass – or two – of Longview’s award winning

MOUNTAIN BIKE CHAMPIONSHIP- Eagle on the Hill
Feb 22nd to Feb 27th 2011
In 2011 Eagle Mountain Bike Park will again play host to the Australian MTB Championships. A packed schedule, music, commentary, and live video on a big screen will electrify the atmosphere in the event village.

ONE MAGIC BOWL

Following her memorable mass feeding events for the Adelaide Festival,
gastronome, author and restaurateur Gay Bilson directs One Magic Bowl. Using
produce of the region, a team of the finest local chefs from Fleurieu restaurants will
prepare a MAGIC BOWL for over 1000 patrons on stunning Pt Willunga Beach. As
the sun sets savour the exceptional flavours of the Fleurieu and absorb the

The Business and Tourism group of Macclesfield (B.A.T) is putting on this fantastic showa fantastic band (TBA). In the past, BAT hosted a Johnny Cash tribute concert and a Blues Brothers show. Strathalbyn Antiques and Hobbies Fair

The Strathalbyn Antiques and Hobbies Fair attract antique dealers and visitors from all around Australia. Held in various venues around the town, visitors can take advantage of the complimentary shuttle bus service to get around. There will be displays from Spinners and Weavers, Lace makers, Strathalbyn Stitchers, Motor Restorers, Strathalbyn Floral Society and many more. An auction will be held on Saturday at the Lutheran Hall.

Strathalbyn Duck races

The annual Strathalbyn Duck races is a must see spectacle! This is not your average duck race, with thousands of plastic ducks released into the waters of the Angus River for the race that stops a nation. Featuring two corporate races with ducks decorated by local businesses. With local stallholders, offering a variety of food and drink along with crafts, produce and other items of interest this is a great way to see the Historic Town of Strathalbyn in its full colour.
Macclesfield Strawberry Fete

The Macclesfield Strawberry fete is a great day out for the whole family. It features many stalls selling crafts, antiques, bric a brac and much more as well as games and a visit from Father Christmas for the kids. There is plenty of live entertainment throughout the day and of course, plenty of strawberries!
