The Stumps - Bed and Breakfast

Accommodation

AccommodationLocated on 17 acres of pristine land, The Stumps B&B is privately located on the ground floor of an architecturally designed country house.  Build by its owners with the view to minimize disturbance of the terrain and to embrace the natural setting, you can experience country living at its best at one of the most secluded spots in the Adelaide Hills.

Corinna Steeb and Frank Samson, the owners of the Stumps, live in the main building of the country house.  Originally from Germany, they have lived in Macclesfield for over 18 years.

The Stumps is set in a natural array of native bushland. A rabbit proof fence separates native bush setting from the large, cultivated garden surrounding the B&B.  This allows us to live in harmony with the native non non-native wildlife and we can grow a range of native and 'experimental' plants that attract many native birds and bats. Being painfully aware of the current water constrains, the Stumps is a working example of a low maintenance garden, conservation and recycling of water while maintaining a beautiful garden setting with many plants and features to look at around the house. Other water saving initiative are the use of 100% Bamboo towels and blankets in the B&B, capture of water from all roofed areas and smart water saving shower devises.

Besides the Stumps, Corinna and Frank also run a business consultancy 'Rubys Creative Business Solutions' and assist small and medium sized family businesses with the improvement and expansion of their businesses.

As residents of the Adelaide Hills for over 18 years, Corinna and Frank get involved in community activities. Both are founding members of BAT (Macclesfield Business and Tourism Association) and Corinna is the Chair of the working group of the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market and runs educational workshops at the Adelaide Hills Regional Development Board.

“We were eager to find a place that would offer a true Australian living experience.  Macclesfield fitted all criteria’s that we were looking for; a small rural community in the heart of the Adelaide Hills with a unique spirit of country living and still, less than one hour away from a major city.”

“We fell in love with the ambiance of the property, the wildlife, native grasses, unique bushland and the large gums just seem to provide the perfect setting for our place.”

AccommodationWe invite you to wander around the property or to talk a walk along Hillview Road, a crest with magnificent views.  On clear days, you can see Lake Alexandrina or even further, all the way to the edge of the Coorong.  All year long, you can witness the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets and most nights, the sky reveals a blanket of stars usually only visible in far out places.

“We wish to share our experience with the visitors and guests and we look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful place.”
